DMCC licence vs UAE trademark
DMCC registers your company and its name. It does not register trademarks. The brand is filed online with the federal Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in the DMCC company’s name with a copy of its licence — see documents and steps.
Classes DMCC traders often need
Many DMCC companies trade goods — commodities, gold and jewellery (Class 14), food (Class 29, Class 30), electronics (Class 9) — and sell them online or wholesale (Class 35). Register the classes for the goods you sell under the brand, not only for trading as a service. Find your class.
Group and holding structures
If the brand belongs to a group, decide which company should own it before filing — the DMCC trading company, or a holding company that licenses it. Changing the owner later is a recorded transfer with its own fees.
Protect it once it is registered
Watch new filings in the gazette (trademark watch), oppose look-alikes within 30 days (opposition) and record the mark with Dubai Customs if counterfeits are a risk (customs).
