What Class 1 covers
Class 1 covers chemicals used in industry, science, photography, agriculture and forestry, plus raw materials such as unprocessed plastics and resins. It is about chemicals as ingredients and inputs, not finished consumer products.
Class 1 is a goods class (Classes 1–34 cover goods).
Examples of goods in Class 1
- Industrial chemicals and chemical additives
- Fertilisers and soil conditioners
- Unprocessed artificial and synthetic resins
- Unprocessed plastics in powder, liquid or paste form
- Adhesives for industrial use
- Fire-extinguishing compositions
- Tanning substances
- Chemical preparations for preserving food
- Laboratory reagents (not for medical use)
- Compost and growing media
Examples are a guide. Offices accept specific terms; a firm can draft the wording for your products.

Filing tip
Name the actual chemical families you sell. A bare "chemicals" description is often questioned by examiners and gives weak protection against a similar mark on a specific product.
