How the name check works

  1. Exact and near matches — the same name, or with small spelling changes (ROLEKS ~ ROLEX).
  2. Sounds alike — names that are pronounced the same.
  3. Shared distinctive word — your name inside a longer mark, or the other way round.
  4. Your field first — marks in your class and related classes count most; marks for unrelated goods matter less.

Questions

Is my brand name available in the UAE?

Type it above with the class of your goods or services. You see at once whether the same or a similar name is already filed in the UAE. A registered UAE trademark agent can then confirm it with a full clearance search.

What makes a trademark name “too similar”?

Names that look alike, sound alike or share the distinctive word, used for the same or related goods or services. The Ministry can refuse such a name, and the owner of the earlier mark can oppose it.

Does the check cover Arabic names?

It compares Latin names with Latin names and Arabic with Arabic. Translations and transliterations are not matched automatically — an agent checks those.

Is this a legal clearance?

No. It is a fast first check of the UAE gazette and Madrid marks covering the UAE. Before filing, ask an agent for a clearance opinion.
