How to register a trademark in Montenegro

  1. Search the Montenegrin trademark register (eRegisters) for earlier identical or similar marks.
  2. Prepare the application: a request for registration, the applicant's details, a representation of the mark and a list of goods and services classified under the Nice Classification.
  3. Pay the administrative fees and file the application with the Ministry of Economic Development, adding a power of attorney if filing through a representative (mandatory for foreign applicants).
  4. The examiner checks formal requirements and absolute grounds for refusal, and may invite corrections to the goods and services list.
  5. If there are no grounds for refusal, the application is published in the official intellectual property gazette.
  6. The mark is entered in the register by a registration decision, and registered trademark data is published in the gazette.
