How to register a trademark in Tajikistan
- Search for earlier marks, including national registrations and international registrations designating Tajikistan.
- Foreign companies and non-resident individuals appoint a Tajik patent attorney under a power of attorney.
- File the application with the patent office in Tajik or Russian, listing goods and services by Nice class.
- The office carries out a formal examination, then a substantive examination of the mark.
- Respond to any requests for additional materials (normally within 2 months) or appeal a refusal to the Appeals Board.
- After the registration fee is paid, the mark is entered in the State Register, published in the Official Gazette and a certificate is issued.
Examination, publication and opposition
- Examination: The patent office carries out a formal examination followed by a substantive examination of the mark; the 2012 text of the law set one month for the formal examination.
- Publication: Official Gazette of the patent office (registration details are published after entry in the register)

Filing from abroad
- Local agent: Foreign legal entities and individuals not resident in Tajikistan must deal with the patent office through Tajik patent attorneys authorised by a power of attorney.
- Power of attorney: A power of attorney in favour of a Tajik patent attorney is required for foreign applicants; notarisation or legalisation requirements were not verified.
- Language: The application is filed in the state language (Tajik) or in Russian; documents in other languages need a translation into the state language
