How to register a trademark in Bangladesh
- Search the Trademarks Registry records for earlier conflicting marks.
- File a separate application for each class with the DPDT Trademarks Registry, giving an address for service in Bangladesh if the applicant does not do business there.
- The Registrar examines the application and may accept it, accept it with conditions, or raise objections.
- Accepted applications are advertised in the Trademarks Journal.
- Third parties may oppose within two months of the advertisement; the applicant must file a counter-statement within two months of receiving an opposition.
- If unopposed, the mark is registered with effect from the filing date and a registration certificate is issued.

Filing from abroad
- Local agent: Applicants who do not carry on business in Bangladesh must give an address for service in Bangladesh; in practice this is provided through a local trademark agent. Non-resident applicants or opposers may be required to give security for costs in opposition proceedings.

Madrid Protocol
Bangladesh is not a member of the Madrid System, so an international registration cannot cover it. You need a national filing, usually through a local agent.
