## Good to know
- Official fees depend on the number of goods/services items: up to five items in a class are charged per item, and more than five items are charged a flat per-class rate, so long specifications cost noticeably more.
- Multi-class applications and sound marks became possible with the 2016 amendment to the Trademark Act.
- The DIP offers a First Action Fast Track service that can give a first office action within about 6 months if strict conditions are met (for example, limited items using DIP-approved descriptions).
- A registration can be cancelled after three consecutive years of non-use.
