2. File the application with the Industrial Property Office, grouping goods and services under Nice class numbers in ascending order.
3. The Office examines whether the application meets the legal conditions, including absolute grounds for refusal, and gives the applicant a chance to respond before any refusal.
4. The Office publishes the application in its Bulletin (Vestník).
5. Third parties may file an opposition within 3 months of publication; anyone may also submit written observations on absolute grounds until registration.
6. If no opposition succeeds, the mark is entered in the register.

## Good to know
- Anyone may submit written observations against an application on absolute grounds until the mark is registered; the person submitting them does not become a party to the proceedings.
- An application covering several goods or services can be divided into separate applications up to registration, keeping the original filing and priority dates.
- Revocation for non-use can be sought if the mark has not been genuinely used within 5 years of registration or for 5 continuous years, unless there are justified reasons.
- Slovakia is an EU member, so a European Union trade mark registered through EUIPO also covers Slovakia.
