## Steps

4. The accepted application is published in the Official Gazette, and any person may oppose it within three months of publication.
5. Oppositions are decided by the Registrar, whose decision can be appealed to the High Court of Justice.

## Good to know
- The first registration lasts seven years, counted from the application date (which the law treats as the registration date), and each renewal lasts 14 years.
- Any interested person may seek cancellation of a mark that has not actually been used during the two years before the cancellation request (Art. 22).
- The West Bank applies Jordanian Trademarks Law No. 33 of 1952, while the Gaza Strip has a separate register under older Mandate-era legislation, so secondary sources recommend filing in both.
- Palestine is not a member of the Madrid System, so protection requires a national filing with the Ministry of National Economy.
- A trademark can be assigned only together with the goodwill of the business it relates to (Art. 19).
