## Steps
1. Search the Registry's records for identical or similar marks before filing.
2. File the application (Form TM-1) with the Trade Marks Registry of IPO-Pakistan, on paper or through the online filing system launched in June 2023; applicants without a residence or business in Pakistan must give an address for service in Pakistan.
3. Alternatively, a holder of a Madrid international registration can designate Pakistan, a Madrid Protocol member since 24 May 2021.
4. The Registry examines the application and, if accepted, advertises it in the Trade Marks Journal.
5. Any person may oppose within two months of advertisement (extendable by up to two months); the applicant then has one month to file a counter-statement or the application is deemed abandoned.
6. If there is no opposition, or it fails, the registration fee is paid and the mark is registered with effect from the filing date.
