## Steps
1. Search the DJKI database (PDKI) for earlier identical or similar marks.

## Good to know
- Indonesia follows a strict first-to-file system; registration, not use, creates trade mark rights, and a mark can be cancelled after 3 consecutive years of non-use.
- Objections (oppositions) are filed during the publication period, before substantive examination is completed.
- Official fees were revised by Government Regulation (PP) No. 30 of 2026, reported to take effect on 1 August 2026: press reports quoting DJKI give Rp 2,800,000 per class for general applicants and an unchanged Rp 500,000 per class for micro and small enterprises.
- Micro and small enterprises (UMK) pay a substantially reduced official filing fee.
- Madrid Protocol designations of Indonesia are examined by DJKI under the same substantive rules as national applications.
