## Good to know
- Angola is not a member of the Madrid System, so protection requires a national application filed directly with IAPI.
- Under the fee table of Presidential Decree No. 62/20 (in force 20 March 2020), filing, first and second publication and grant fees for trademarks are paid together, upfront, when the application is filed.
- Angola has been party to the Paris Convention since 27 December 2007, so a Paris Convention priority claim is available.
- Angola is not a member of the ARIPO Banjul Protocol or of OAPI, so regional African filings do not cover it.
- Ownership and exclusivity of a mark depend on registration (Law No. 3/92, art. 29), and a registration can lapse for non-use (art. 39).
